Sharing Art Is Scary

Square

Publishing this website 2 weeks ago was unbelievably daunting. I’ve shared art before, but never in a “serious” way like this.

Since clicking on that big blue “Launch” button, I’ve felt naked, lonely and scared. I find it especially hard when I share my website and people start looking at it immediately, in front of me. It makes me want to hide under a rock!

It’s like sending your first elementary school crush the infamous “Yes, No, Maybe” note. You know the one.
The infinitely anxious jitters that surge through your body as your best friend hands it over for your crush to read.
Sweet, sweet terror.

There’s also that nagging imposter syndrome that flares up every time I open my new Instagram account and see the beautiful artworks of the talented artists on there. Some days, it makes me feel unworthy of calling myself an artist at all…

On the other hand, I am quite proud of having been able to build a website all by my lonesome to begin with, and obviously, if I want to sell even just a single piece, I have to start sharing my art.

I shall therefore do my best to embrace the sweet terror of it all and just keep on keeping on.

Summer days here are either scorching, or rainy, or both. It’s the perfect weather excuse to stay inside and paint every day, which has been great! Getting the website and the social media accounts up and running was quite the process, and it’s been good to actually spend some time painting again – reminds me of why I am putting myself through this. I adore painting! I cannot imagine myself doing anything else anymore.

I do have to take a little bit of a break from the fun part to go out and get my business registered so I can finally start taking orders! Stay tuned!

In the meantime, check out my newest Whimsical Watercolours and Greeting Cards and don’t hesitate to contact me if you want to reserve a piece before I open up the ordering!

Cheers 💛
